“THE WATERS, THE FISH, THE BEST

 COMMITTEE MEETING 17 JANUARY 2009

Complements of the season to you all. May 2009 be a year of stabilization and fulfillment for us all.

As you are aware it was decided that, after a committee meeting, we would send out a short note to members on our email base to keep them up to date between News Letters which will continue to be sent to all members (email and postal) quarterly.

We will continue with the maintenance of Dam 6 (Town Dam) and Dam 7 (Golf Club Dam). Midstream dropper bottles were put into the dams on Saturday 16 January and the dead weed should be ready to clear in a couple of weeks.

It has been decided to have a Club work day on Saturday, February 14th, with the emphasis on clearing the weed from dams 6 & 7 and cutting grass. We will welcome the assistance of as many members as possible armed with rakes, pitch forks, ropes, petrol driven weed eaters and even small boats to help us in this venture. Lunch will be provided but please bring your own liquid refreshments. The more of you that support us, the more weed can be cleared and hopefully we will all find time to fish better waters in the future.

Regrettably it is still not feasible to commence with the righting and stocking of Dam 3 (Waterworks) as the Municipality are continuing with their work at the waterworks, fences are still down and access can not be controlled. Poaching what little may be left continues. We are trying to establish from the Municipality when they will be finished and the fencing replaced but without much success.

It has been decided to bring the ladies competition forward one week to the 23 May 2009 as many people maintained that month end was a bad time. We are hoping to introduce some of the ideas put forward in the replies to our survey, i.e coaching on Friday, Ladies Competition Saturday and couples competition Sunday. We should be finalizing the format in the next few weeks and will get all the info out to you as soon there after as possible.

We are also thinking of expanding the scope of The Jack Frost Competition.

We would like to remind all members once again that it is their right and their duty to help with the policing of the dams while they are fishing or passing the dams. Poaching is an ongoing nightmare and local committee members can not be at the dams 24 hours a day seven days a week. Please approach the offenders and/or report offenders both to the BFFA office and the police. It is not just the fact they are catching your trout but they are also trespassing as well as breaking the Provincial Rules and Regulations.

SEE YOU  AND YOUR TOOLS ON 14 FEBRUARY 2009.

Regards

From Your Committee.
