Tranquil… serene… food for the soul…

Step into a world away from the world!

TREEFERNS TROUT LODGE took its name from the many treeferns which are indigenous to the farm of which a largenumber is estimated to be many years old.

True to its vision, Treeferns Trout Lodge over the past 10 years has established itself as a preferred fly fishing and weekend getaway. The high return rate and occupancy speak for itself. For the avid fly fisherman the dams are well stocked with Rainbow and Brown Trout.

Rainbow Trout are very colourful and spectacular and have alilac-mauve pink band from head to tail whereas the BrownTrout have large red and brown spots on the body.

The lodge is on the historical farm Vlakfontein about 20km from the village of Dullstroom. A short drive on a well maintained dirt road gets you to the Tree Ferns gate where, upon arrival, you will see a few of the eight dams available for fishing. There are four weired up sections on their stream
holding trout. Accommodation is available in the form of four very affordable, comfortable self-catering chalets.

For those not wanting to flyfish there are opportunities for hiking, farm tours and mountain biking. There are a number of bird species to be seen on the farm including the Sacred Ibis and White-Faced Duck.
