About Us
Treeferns Trout Lodge is hosted by Vlakfontein farm, Belfast.
The farm belonged to the family for 4 generations since 1865 when the first title-deed was registered in the name of F. J. Mare, whose great-grandson, Frederik, our brother and brother-in-law, is still living on the farm.
My wife, Marietjie, and I, Chris Labuschagne, took over the farm from mother-in-law in 1994 when we retired, and started Treeferns Trout Lodge as a humble beginning of one chalet, and a couple of dams. Since then we grew steadily to 4 chalets, a lapa, and 12 dams and weirs.
We are trading as TREEFERNS TROUT LODGE CC with business rights approved by the Dept. of Land Affairs and Agriculture. Our dams are also registered by the Department of Water Affairs, and we have a permit from Nature Conservation to stock the dams with trout. We also farm with Drakensberger cattle.
We are proud of our management and administrative procedures, and want our customers to feel comfortable with their bookings. We realise we operate in the hospitality industry, and render services accordingly. We are committed to the Christian code of conduct in our personal lives and business approach.
We live in Centurion, and the farm is managed by George and Amanda Trollip.
